Is anyone going to be lucky enough to check out the Turner prize shortlist exhibition at the Tate? I sort of hate the prize, but this year’s shortlist is pretty interesting. I especially like Paul Noble, whose work is on a subject close to my own heart — for years he’s done etchings of an imaginary city named Nobson Newtown in incredible detail. The overall effect isn’t sappy like you might expect, more of a series of slowly unfolding mysteries of the places you knew somewhere, sometime, maybe when you were in another form.
