Guetschow (another former painter) on her work: “The idea was to reconstruct landscape paintings of the 17th and 18th century. The depiction of landscapes during this period followed a predefined scheme that I wanted to rebuild - but as photography. So the idea was there first, and then I started to take photographs.”
One of her chief inspirations — which first surprised me and then made total sense — is Caspar David Friedrich.
