Have you checked out Dan’s fantastic photobook shop, full of beautiful photobooks from emerging Japanese photographers? For the past couple of days I’ve been clicking over to it every hour on the hour, longing and hesitant. I really want the two photobooks by Shinya Arimoto but — this is embarrassing — I’m bewildered by the yen conversions, the shipping, the payment methods — it’s like it’s 1997 all over again and I’m making my first Internet transaction.
I’ll blame this on the yen conversions for now. For someone who travels as often as I do, it’s astounding how bad I can be at basic calculations. Whenever I’m in Japan I just breathe deeply and get the cheapest option, figuring that I don’t want to know how much it costs anyway. (Considering how much things cost in Tokyo, this is probably true.) And then there’s the shipping — Japanese post doesn’t go everywhere.
It all gets me so stressed out that I just send whiny emails to Dan (I hope he will forgive me) and try to calm myself by looking at Arimoto photographs on the Internet. Because they kick ass.

UPDATE: He forgave me and I’ve ordered the books. Will share more pictures with you soon!
